Sketching the delicacies under the trees

I can’t tell you quite how much my sister and her family spoilt me in France. She and her husband had rented an old renovated millhouse near Nimes for a week, and I was invited to stay with them.

The weather was sunny and glorious – especially after leaving wintry Melbourne.

And oh my goodness – the FOOD!! Each day someone would trundle into the local village to buy the most beautiful delicacies – lots of yummy things that I had never tried before. Terrines, luscious and gooey cheeses, fish soup, and an amazing collection of local wines. I just lapped it all up.

I started to soak off labels, just like I used to when I was little. I glued them into my journal and I drew one of the blue and white plate patterns on top. It reminds me of sitting down to those wonderful meals under the tree.
